OUR GREEN POLICY

Our aim is to provide 4* accommodation whilst taking into account our 'green' concerns. With this in mind we have the following aims:

* Reduce food miles where possible

* Buy Scottish produce where possible

* Use home grown herbs, fruit and vegetables

* Support local producers, e.g. butchers, farmers and bakers

* Use as few 'household chemicals' as possible

* Use 'E' cloths for the majority of our cleaning

* Wash towels and bedding in phosphate free detergent

* Recycle paper, card, glass, cans, tins, ink cartridges, electrical goods, clothes and   compost kitchen and garden waste

* Use low energy lighting whenever possible

* Use sustainable fuel to provide heating, e.g. multi-fuel stove - logs

* Encourage the use of public transport by providing lifts to and from rail/bus stations

* Offering garaging facilities for bikes and canoes

* Suggest local walking and cycling locations

* Encourage indigenous wildlife by:

- feeding birds and mammals throughout the year at feeding stations in the   garden

- leaving areas of the garden uncultivated to encourage moths, butterflies and   insects

- not using residual chemicals

- use grey water to water garden during summer months

* Foster guest(s) interest in the local wildlife by providing suggested sites, books and  binoculars
